2023-24. El Yunque National Rainforest, Río Grande, Puerto Rico (Boriké),
installation + site-responsive, variable dimensions
A drawing/installation created from materials collected in my surroundings (textile scraps, tree branches and trunks, seashells, seeds, stones, bottle caps, remnants of fence wire, among others), using various weaving, wrapping, and knotting techniques, as well as working with space and energies as materials in themselves.
This work was commissioned to be part of the NATURA exhibition on the sidewalk of the El Yunque National Forest. A project conceived by Georgie Vega and Amigos del Yunque, in conjunction with the El Yunque Forest Service, Puerto Rico National Forest.
From my connection with this place, an ‘energetic drawing’ emerged. In this tracing (or redrawing) of a sacred space, the arrangement of elements is guided by intuition, energetic vertices, and the interrelation with the environment and the cosmos.
Continuing my usual practice, this ‘energy drawing’ is a new invitation to accompany each other in silence and the perception of what is present in the space and in those who experience it – both the visible and the invisible; to open ourselves to the portals that are in nature and also within ourselves. Space/time/encounter as an opportunity to offer our attention and cultivate respectful and reciprocal relationships and interactions within the weaving of all that IS.
It is wonderful to be in the company of the works of the following artists:
Migdalia Luz Barens, Jorge González, Ivelisse Jiménez, Omar Obdulio, Guillermo Rodríguez, and Jaime and Javier Suarez.
It is a gift to be able to present ourselves and share in this magical forest.

installación de sitio específico, dimensiones variables
Un dibujo/instalación elaborado a partir de materiales recolectados en mis entornos (descartes textiles, ramas y troncos de árboles, caracoles, semillas, piedras, chapas de botellas, remanentes de alambre de verja, entre otros), utilizando varias técnicas de tejido, envoltura y anudado, además de trabajar con el espacio y las energías como materiales en sí mismos.
Esta obra fue comisionada para formar parte de la exhibición NATURA en la vereda de el Portal de El Yunque. Un proyecto gestado por Georgie Vega y Amigos del Yunque, junto al Servicio Forestal de El Yunque, Bosque Nacional de Puerto Rico.
Del relacionarme con este lugar, emergió un ‘dibujo energético’. En este trazar (o re-trazar) un espacio sagrado, la disposición de elementos es guiada por la intuición, los vértices energéticos, y la interrelación con el entorno y el cosmos.
Continuando la práctica de siempre, este ‘dibujo energético’ es una nueva invitación acompañarnos en el silencio y la percepción de lo presente en el espacio y en quienes lo experimentan – tanto lo visible como lo invisible; a abrirnos a los portales que están en la naturaleza y también dentro nuestro. El espacio/tiempo/encuentro como oportunidad para ofrendar nuestra atención y cultivar relaciones e interacciones respetuosas y recíprocas en el tejido de todo lo que ES.
